Get rid of your umbrella ella ella

I really don't like umbrellas. Sorry to those who use them. Here is a pictorial reason why.

1) Large Umbrellas-These are the ones that are the size of a satellite dish. They make a person's diameter 3 to 4 times wider than normal. The people that use these seem unaware of this fact and walk around like they own the whole side walk. I was hit in the head with one yesterday.

Chicago is a windier than normal city which leads me to reasons 2 and 3.

2) Most umbrellas cannot handle the the wind. So you have inside out umbrellas ditched everywhere when they finally completely fail. So what's the point.

3) The people trying to prevent the umbrellas from turning inside out, have it pulled down so it is perpendicular to the side walk and right in front of their face. They have no clue where they are going so are running into innocent others walking down the street.

Oh and 4) Isn't the rain just blowing under the umbrella any way?
I don't see what an umbrella has that a rain coat with a hood does not. Here are a few suggestions.

This is the only acceptable umbrella as far as I can see. Nice and tight around the individual. You can get right inside it and can see everyone else around you so you will not be inadvertently running into people.

I also found this which is also an acceptable umbrella.

But really, what's wrong with a nice rain hat. And these are made by the people who know foul weather. You don't see them walking around with umbrellas.

September 2, 2010

The other day I received a link from Aaron via Steve for the latest workout program Aaron is doing. The program is Gymnastic Bodies, The Science of Gymnastics Strength Training. Right there on the home page is the workout of the day, WOD. Each WOD is followed by a number. In my case, I got the link on Tuesday February 10th. So the workout of the day was WOD 090210. Coincidence? I think not. I was confused at first. Did Steve send me this link because of the WOD number? Maybe Aaron sent it to Steve to send to me. I thought for sure there was some connection there. That's how my warped mind works when it comes to those numbers. I'm sure neither Steve nor Aaron even noticed. So I finally figured it out, that it is just the date, but written year, month, and then the day, 090210. I started freaking out. Frantically rearranging the numbers to put them in normal date format. Have I missed it? The Golden Beverly Hills 90210 Day of Celebration? OMG I have not! It will be September 2, 2010!!!!!!! YAHOO! I am going to start planning the party now. And you are all invited.

Thank you Steve and Aaron for drawing my attention to the fact that this day exists. What if I had missed it.

Scott Thompson

I don't know what it is, but I could stare at Carrot Top all day long. Have you ever seen a crazier looking person in your life. I wish I had a life size cutout of him that I could keep in my basement. I would not get tired of looking at it. What a weird looking person. And just my luck, to add to his strangeness, he is obviously obsessed with weightlifting. The fact that he is all jacked up adds so much to his look. He really has beaten the odds and become famous. His hair, his face, his expressions, his clothes AND he is a PROP comedian (so his main competition is Gallagher).

Google images of him. Yow-za!

I tried to find a picture of Carrot Top with anyone from Bev Hills, but I could not. Too bad. That would have made my day. It was hard to find any pictures of Carrot Top with another celebrity. I wonder if it is the kiss of death. Your career is officially over if you pose for a picture with Carrot Top. I found pictures of him with Steven Segal, Robin Leech and Denis Rodman.

What do Rocky Balboa and Carrot Top have in common?

They both paid money to have their faces look the way they do.

Would rather have a face like Rocky or a face like Carrot Top?

I think .....Rocky?

Non Fat Process Cheese Product

Hmm. What is this?

This product was purchased and brought into my home with my consent, but not with my approval. I just don't understand what this product is? I did not eat it, but I have eaten it in the past. I recall that it does not have a lot of flavor. In fact the plastic wrap probably has more flavor. I'm not sure if it is the consistency, but something about it is frighteningly similar to plastic. Although unlike plastic this cheese product as I remember does not melt. Well, there must have been some scientific advances recently because I was told that it did melt after some considerable microwaving. Something about microwaving a non fat process cheese product single to the point that it melts makes me feel cancerous inside. I was also told that when it gets on your hands, its hard to get off. I suspect this product is 1 or 2 molecules away from vaseline.

Lets look on the bright side. It is fat free so you can eat as much of it as you want. The other good thing is that you probably don't want much of it.

Necking

When I walk to work I hear a lot of bits of conversations. Most are boring work stuff, which can be entertaining if I walk in front of the same people for a few blocks. Most of the time it's the same conversation but different people are having it, complaining about people at work.

Today I heard one bit of one half of a conversation that made me chuckle. It was a young lady, I'm guessing in her mid to low 20's. She was on the phone. This was all I heard.

"I didn't see him, but I did see Biden...Biden and his wife. I didn't like her dress at all!"

She pronounced Biden like Bidden as in forbidden. You should go back and read the sentence again using her pronunciation. So this girl has clearly seen some coverage of these events, but some how missed the proper pronunciation of our Vice President, whose name has probably been said over 1,000 times in the last couple of days.

The best conversation I ever heard was between two older men. I would say in their late 50's maybe early 60's. This was all I heard.

Man#1 "Were they necking?"
Man#2 "Necking and a lot more!"

Hail to the Chief

I was fortunate enough to be home for the inauguration of our new president. How exciting! It really makes you think when he says stuff like "a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath."

But seriously watching all the clips, it has to be weird for him. I really have been drawn to the saluting. I mean do you think he practiced his salute. He must have. One day nobody is saluting and the next day you are getting salutes from all angles. I picture him with Michelle practicing saying "Is this right? Does this look good? Is my elbow to high? Should my fingers be on my forehead or more at my eyebrow?"

And how about the Bible Biden used to be sworn in. Holy Moly!
